ESPRESSOTHON TURNOUT
The espressothon turned out great! A special thanks to the Barismo players for hooking us up with the guest grinder and the complimentary Linnaean St. espresso as well as a couple pounds of Nimac to serve as a single origin espresso.
Logan handled the drinks like a rock star for the majority of the day, from 6:30-2:30. He set up a board at the register with our descriptions of the different coffees, a nice touch. His talkative nature is second to none and I know that he created a huge buzz in the shop and for that I congratulate him. Geovane took care of business from 2:30-8:30. Although not quite as talkative as the latter, his technical skills and shot execution are great. Everyone else, although not as intimately involved in the coffee aspect, worked really hard to balance the espressothon with a tremendously busy day in general at Taste.
We designated each of the 3 group-heads to a different coffee, mostly just to not cross-contaminate flavors. We ran all the shots at the same temperature, 200.5 degrees, which really ends up at around 201.5 because the synesso tends to run slightly hot when being worked like a horse. Next time we will play around with temperature a bit more, but we found that L Street and Poker Face both taste and smell nice when pulled at around the same temp.
All said and done... we're ready for round 2! Stay tuned.
